Congratulations to Junior Alyana McFadden and Sophomore Katerra Myers on their outstanding season for our varsity girls basketball team.  Both Alyana and Katerra were votes as first team East Division by the MoCo Womens Basketball Coaches Association! Alyana led the team in scoring with 15.1 ppg and 29 made 3-pointers. Katerra averaged 13.1 ppg!

Catonsville High girls basketball wins Class 4A state championship

The Comets won the Class 4A crown by defeating defending 4A champion Walt Whitman, 49-46, Saturday at Towson’s SECU Arena.
The Comets played keep-away until Gabby Douglas was fouled with 6.6 seconds left. She made the second of two free throws, giving the Comets a 49-46 lead.

Shantrel Oliver Eclipses 1,000 Career Points

A Columbia, MD native, Oliver transferred from Chesapeake College and played three seasons at UDC – including the Firebirds' historic 2013-14 East Coast Conference Tournament Championship season. She needed 19 points tonight to reach 1,000 for her collegiate career. Oliver went on to finish with a game-high 23 points for the night.

Dorn has eclipsed double-digit points and rebounds multiple times this season including five-straight games heading into the Gators Jan. 20 contest against Oakland Mills. Dorn averages nearly 12 points per game, but her effectiveness on offensive goes beyond just her play on the block.

Dorn played a vital role in the Gators victories this week over Glenelg and Marriotts Ridge. Against the Gladiators on Jan. 18 Dorn finished with 13 points on 4-for-11 shooting and showed her range by knocking down 1-of-3 from behind the arc in the commanding, 51-36, victory. Dorn was a huge factor on the glass, pulling down 11 rebounds to notch her fourth straight double-double, while also adding two assists and two blocks. Despite playing with a shoulder injury against the Mustangs on Jan.20, Dorn continued her impressive play. She led her team with 11 points on 4-for-14 shooting and grabbed 18 rebounds — eight of which were on the offensive glass. She also added four assists, five steals and one block in the Gators, 40-37 win.
